Oreodont Fossil Skull and Leg Set
This is a real fossil Oreodont (Leptauchenia nitidia) skull and pelvis/leg from the Brule Formation in South Dakota. This extinct family of even-toed ungulates were generally hog-like in appearance but more closely related to camels. They ranged from sheep to cattle size and were primarily grassland browsers.
The hip, leg and other loose bones are from a different individual than the skull, but they are from the same species and layer. The bones exhibit signs of predation!
The matrix with the leg segment measures ~6.5" long and 7" tall. The skull measures ~3.5" long (5.5" long with custom base).
This specimen is roughly 32 million years old and can be shipped worldwide!
