Solomon Islands Human Skull, Ex-Museum

Dating back to the early 19th century, this is a decorated human skull from the Solomon Islands!
The skull is adorned with circular cut tridacna clam shells, which were also used as currency by the local peoples.
This incredibly rare skull was a formal part of the Prehistoria Museum collection, but has been deaccessioned and offered to the public to raise funds for exhibit upgrades. It was acquired from a distinguished ethnographic collection in the United States and would make an incredible addition to any museum-quality or research collection.
It was originally in the collection of Löed Van Bussel and Els Verhey, a partnership of two very prolific and very well known collectors of South Pacific tribal art.
