Sea Monster, Jenny Haniver
First recorded in 1558, devious sellers would modify the dead body of a ray or skate to resemble this bizarre creature.
The most common story attributed to these "sea monsters" is that they were basilisks - a creature so deadly that even glancing upon a live one would mean sudden death. Seeing as nobody alive could possibly have seen a basilisk to prove them wrong, many fell victim to the hoaxes.
We can ship these legendary "monsters" worldwide!
